Manufacturing Paperless manufacturing process through the introduction of Smart Card
In order to go paperless, rewritable electronic kanbans were introduced, but they could only be rewritten 500 times, so they were not completely paperless. Here we will introduce a proposal example that achieved complete paperlessness and digital transformation at a site where this was not possible.
Challenge

Electronic kanbans, which use heat to erase and rewrite printed information, can only be rewritten 500 times, resulting in high running costs.

Electronic signboards are vulnerable to dust and dirt, and require storage in a case, which is time-consuming.

Eliminate paper Kanban system from Receving to manufacturing process

The state of the Product at each process is recorded in the SC, and the upper system grasps the work-in-progress state in real time.

It is possible to grasp the condition of individual workpieces even if they are removed from the line due to defects or stock out parts during the manufacturing process.

No batteries required, and the Smart Card is guaranteed to last over 1 million writes, so it can be used almost permanently

Challenge

Shuttle rack were introduced as a measure to automate and reduce manpower in response to an increase in logistics, but operations cannot keep up with the time required to print, attach, and remove paper labels.
